The MPS5000 series FM radar level gauge is an advanced measurement system based on FM continuous wave technology. The FM radar level gauge emits continuous microwave signals through an antenna sensor, and the frequency of the transmitted signal is linearly modulated by sawtooth waves. When a continuously transmitted microwave signal encounters the surface of the measured medium, due to a sudden change in dielectric constant, some of the energy of the microwave signal is continuously reflected back and received by the lens antenna system.
